Proven in the Peloton

24. Juni 2014 - vor 3 Jahren, 8 Monaten und 20 Tagen

24th Jun 2014 - NewsSponsors News (Tinkoff-Saxo) The SRM Training System doesn’t help us turn the pedals, but without a doubt, it makes us faster. To Tinkoff-Saxo, the watt measuring PowerMeter is a necessary tool and we use it in both training and racing. The SRM PowerMeter measures the watts – or power – that a rider puts into the pedals and transmits that data four times per second, thus giving a cyclist real-time feedback on performance. Riders and coaches use this data to program and plan training and to manage energy and effort during the race. The SRM PowerMeter was invented and first patented in 1988 by Uli Schoberer – a German medical engineer and founder of SRM. Later on, diversions of the technology have been put to use by other manufactures. But still, nothing beats the original, whose accuracy and durability is still without resemblance.

And – bottom line – can sports science help make race winners?  These are a few of the questions that a gathering of world leading sports scientists, coaches and medical practitioners aim to address at the UCI-endorsed 2nd World Congress of Cycling Science at the Rose Bowl in Leeds from Wednesday 2nd to Thursday 3rd of July, just days before the city hosts the Grand Depart of the Tour de France (Saturday 5th July).

Giro d'Italia Stage 15

01. Juni 2014 - vor 3 Jahren, 9 Monaten und 15 Tagen

Giro d'Italia's Stage 15 was a mountaintop finish following 225km from Valdengo to Montecampione. Astana's young Sardinian pro, Fabio Aru, came to the base of the day’s final and only climb – nearly 20km up to Montecampione – in the group of leaders – and as other teams began to attack, waited patiently, pedaling coolly and efficiently as the others spent their energy. -Astana Pro Team "Fabio Aru could hardly have picked a better moment to clinch the first victory of his professional career. The 23-year-old Astana rider gave a majestic performance on the iconic climb up to Plan de Montecampione, producing a series of accelerations that left him left him 21 seconds clear." cyclingnews
