In celebration of the UCI Road World Championships in Tuscany, SRM Italia hosted an evening industry event in partnership with FSA on Thursday September 26th. L'Esclusiva World Championships Reception was held at the SRM Headquarters, an exquisite cycling themed villa, in the city of Lucca. Guests included members of national cycling federations, professional cyclists, team management and staff, industry partners, as well as local and cycling media representatives. The event was centered around an SRM and FSA product showcase accompanied by Italy's finest food, wine, and music.

On Friday September 27th Slovenia's Matej Mohoric became the first rider in history to win the junior and under-23 men's road race world titles back to back with a magnificent solo victory in Florence. Mohoric, now 18 years old, "produced a mature and powerful performance" and will turn professional next year racing for Cannondale Pro Cycling. ORICA-GreenEDGE hat den Weltmeistertitel bei der UCI Straßenweltmeisterschaft in Florenz knapp verpasst. Nachdem sie 2012 die Bronzemedaille errangen, konnten sie sich diesmal mit 0,81 Sekunden Rückstand auf das siegreiche OmegaPharma-QuickStep-Team die Silbermedaille sichern. Das Team aus Brett Lancaster, Daryl Impey, Jens Mouris, Luke Durbridge, Michael Hepburn und Svein Tuft hat toll gekämpft und musste sich nur knapp geschlagen geben. Brett Lancester war so freundlich, uns seine SRM-Daten zur Verfügung zu stellen. Jeder kann sich so selber ein Bild über die Anforderungen eines Teamzeitfahrens an den Fahrer machen. Brett Lancaster, mit 80 kg Wettkampfgewicht kein leichter Fahrer, gewann 2004 mit der australischen Nationalmannschaft die olympische Goldmedaille in der 4.000 m Mannschaftsverfolgung auf der Bahn. Auf der Straße gewann er Etappen bei der Tour of California, dem Giro d´Italia und das Teamzeitfahren bei der Tour de France 2013.
