BMC Racing Team recently held their second winter training camp in Denia, Spain. The team’s European-based riders, including Greg Van Avermaet and Philippe Gilbert, were at the camp to continue to build their condition for the first races of the 2016 season whilst profiting from the consistently good weather. Team sports scientist and trainer David Bailey shared the data collected throughout the camp, including GPS tracking, from new PowerControl8 the team are using to monitor riders' training and performance.
Training days | 10 |
Total distance covered | 15,300 km |
Total climbing | 178,250 m |
Total energy expended | 362,818 kJ |
"SRM PowerMeters play a vital role in optimizing our riders' performance. By utilizing the data collected during races we are able to prescribe specific training programs for our riders. We can then monitor their adaptation to this training over weeks and months with continual feedback from their individual SRM power meters. This information enables us to maximise the gains from training and translate them to race-winning performances." - David Bailey PhD, Physiologist/Trainer (BMC Racing Team)
