SRM at Pro Tour Training Camps - Mallorca, Spain
Daniel_Camps
Daniel-SKYTeam Sky and Team Radio Shack recently hosted their training camps on Mallorca in preparation for the 2012 season. The Spanish island features a Mediterranean climate with mild January temperatures, two mountainous regions and flat, fertile plains offering a unique and popular training destination.

SRM technician and Pro Tour team liaison, Daniel Gillespie, attended both the Sky and Radio Shack camps. Daniel was responsible for servicing and calibrating all SRM Training Systems during his stay. He also assisted team mechanics in perfecting the installation and set up of each PowerMeter and PowerControl. The SRM PowerControl 7 clearly displays and records real-time power and cadence data from the PowerMeter as well as speed, heart rate, energy consumption, distance, altitude and temperature. The cyclists Daniel works with have training and racing data recorded at a 0.5 second interval providing the most accurate and precise results available.

The SRM Training System software plays an essential role in training for the teams. While visiting the camps, Daniel reviewed the SRM software with the staff and riders. The software, now available for Windows and Mac, has advanced functionalities and illustrates the correlation of different parameters for detailed analysis. Trainers, physicians, and sports scientists rely on the SRM data to determine intensity parameters, functional threshold power, and anaerobic endurance levels necessary for athlete development and superior performance.

Daniel will continue on to the Team BMC training camp in Denia, Spain. BMC riders train and compete on the SRM Shimano 7900 Compatible PowerMeter. SRM looks forward to sharing more news and updates from the Pro Tour camps and upcoming races.
