American Cycling Veteran, Colby Pearce, Joins SRM USA

28. January 2015 - 3 years, 8 months and 23 days ago

Colorado Springs, Colo. (January 26, 2015) - The SRM Headquarters in Colorado Springs welcomes acclaimed cyclist, successful coach, and long-time industry professional, Colby Pearce, to the USA Sales & Marketing team.  Pearce, known predominately in the past as a time trial specialist, was one of the first American professionals to train and race with the SRM Training System. He set the US Hour Record in 1995 and earned a spot on the 2004 US Olympic team on the track before moving to endurance coaching and bike fitting, working to develop the sport of cycling throughout the United States.  “Colby, together with Greg Lemond and Jonathan Vaughters, was one of the first American professionals to use the SRM PowerMeter for serious training. He understood the advantage of recording more than only heart rate to analyze quality and quantity of training and track progress in increasing performance. Colby believed that training with Power would be the future of cycling more than 20 years ago.” – Uli Schoberer, SRM Founder SRM values the knowledge and insight Colby brings to the company through his experience with SRM both as a professional cyclist and as a coach responsible for the training and development of elite athletes. Pearce witnessed, firsthand, the progression of power in cycling – a chapter opened by PowerMeter inventor and SRM founder, Uli Schoberer. Schoberer and Pearce have worked together often over the years to advance cycling through the use of SRM performance data; and now, in 2015 the official partnership is proudly announced! Colby will represent SRM at industry trade shows, expos, and races throughout the United States while providing feedback and market insight for SRM product development. "Working with SRM will be like coming home for me, as I rode Uli's PowerMeters for the first decade of my racing career. I am looking forward to helping to develop new exciting products from SRM, and representing the brand throughout the US. ” – Colby Pearce With this new and exciting affiliation, SRM is prepared to power into the new year offering a fresh outlook and inspired vision in the world of #SRMpower.

Ironman Cozumel 2014

06. December 2014 - 3 years, 10 months and 14 days ago

On Sunday 30th November 2014, SRM sponsored triathlete Michi Weiss was crowned Ford Ironman Cozumel Champion for the second year running. His winning time of 08:12:16 set a new course record and contained the best bike split and second best run split of the day. Notable achievements indeed when you consider that this was his twelfth triathlon race in a 12 month racing period that included 4 full Ironman’s and 3 Ironman 70.3’s. In this article I want to describe the year-on-year (YOY) comparison between the Cozumel SRM power files in order to explain what it takes to put over 20 minutes into a class field of pro triathletes, and also look a little more closely into the files to gauge what, if anything, a long, hard year of training and racing has changed about the way that Michi races on the bike and how SRM power file analysis can be used to influence training and  get the best out of an athlete.

19. November 2014 - 3 years, 11 months and 1 day ago
