SRM Training System becomes l'Etape du Tour "Official Supporter"

13,000 Cyclists Power through the French Alps

June 28, 2013

SRM Training Systems has partnered with the l’Etape du Tour as a Supporter Officiel. L’Etape du Tour was created over 20 years ago as an event to allow thousands of passionate amateur cyclists to experience the Tour de France. Over 13,000 participants from all over the world will gather in the Alps to ride one stage of the most renowned bicycle race in history.

As a Supporter Officiel, SRM will have a booth in the l’Etape du Tour Expo Village July 5-7th on the banks of Lake Annecy. The village is free and open to the public with more than 25,000 visitors expected. New product will be featured including the recently released SRM Dura-Ace 9000 Compatible PowerMeter. Representatives from SRM Germany, SRM USA, and SRM Italy will be onsite to introduce product, answer questions, and host a number of fun power-based games with prizes!

The official l’Etape du Tour ride will take place on Sunday July 7th. PowerMeter inventor and SRM founder, Uli Schoberer, will be participating in the ride along with several experienced SRM employees. The stage is 128 kilometers with over 3,600 meters of climbing. The final Semnoz climb is 11km at 8.3% grade, the most challenging climb of the entire 2013 Tour de France. Commentators have named it a “course for the tough” as it is the final mountain stage before the Tour heads north to Versailles and the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
